MY SPEECH
My speech topic this year is sugar. Yummy!!! 🍭🍦🍪🍩🍫🍬
I talk about where sugar comes from and lots of different kinds of things I have already read it out to the class and I thought that I did very well so here it is.✌👍
The checkout was quiet until we heard the scream of the three year old in front of us.
The lollies in the aisle were too much for the child when he pleaded with his Mum and she said no...
We all know sugar is unhealthy so why do people still eat it and also why is sugar bad for you?
Why is sugar bad for you?
Sugar is very interesting it makes you feel like you have enough energy to do a marathon but then you have a sugar low and that makes you want to go to sleep.
Sugar is also very bad for you it can cause very big problems for your body like increasing the chance of obesity and diabetes can be caused by too much consumption of sugar glucose and also heart disease.
About Sugar -
Sugar comes from a tropical plant called sugar cane. When I was in Fiji all the sugar cane was on the sides of the road and sometimes we went past people harvesting the sugarcane with their machetes cutting the long strips down and chucking them onto the trucks then sometimes we see some people burning the crop for next planting, after they have harvested the sugar cane they send the truck full of sugar cane too the sugar mill to get turned into sugar.
There are many types of sugar from simply every day white sugar to dark muscovado. They can be used for many types of things, in recipes for coffee sweeteners and baking there is also many more sweet treats sugars nectar can be used for.
One of our teachers loves sugar. Sometimes this teacher eats chocolate or a sweet during class so I’ve got some information on this teachers love of sugar.
So I asked her five questions and this is what she said. My questions were:
1.When do you eat sugar?
Once every two days in the form of lollies normally.
2.How much sweet stuff do you eat per day?
Every 2nd day she buys a $1 packet that has six lollies in it of perhaps a packet from the supermarket when she goes to shop.
3.What is your favourite sugar treat?
Square Caramel lollies.
4.Do you think your sugar diet is a problem?
Yes because I know sugar's bad for me but I still want to buy those lollies.
5.Do you have a balanced diet?
Yes I do because I still eat lots of veggies and don’t eat red meat instead I eat chicken.
In conclusion, sugar has lots of aspects. It can be good, it can be bad but mostly bad. There can also be sugar addicts. It’s a little bit like drugs but it is ok to have sugar once in a will and now I know what parents mean when they say. “Don’t eat too much sugar or you’ll be bouncing of the walls.”
My suggestion to you is take care with sugar.
The important thing is always to have a balanced diet.
